Priyanka Singhvi is a young author who by profession is an Academic Director of THE TAKSHILAH Global schools in Ambur and Vellore. She personally is an ardent reader with a strong belief that reading is the gateway to opening minds, which helps one's thoughts to get wings for flying high boundlessly. By her experience, over the years, she feels that kids after the age of four generally get too much of fairy-folk and need more exposure to different genres. Especially in India, there are very few children's book writers for the 5 to 8 year old age group and kids need to know the condition in India. We need to deal with the Indian kids' attitude and their upbringing as it is different from rest of the world, 5, She believes, reading well-illustrated stories can be the best way. We give too much emphasis on phonetics in nursery level and forget it by level one. So these books by Priyanka, emphasize on the sound of one letter in every book. Hence, there is a story told to a child in all 26 letters, for example, there is story on letter a, b, c and so on and so forth. These books will also help children to develop their vocabulary as they will be able read a word and know its synonyms. Eg: Shout means holler, howl etc or back could mean behind, hind etc. The highlight of the series is the character called WHOOPER, who takes us through the journey from A to Z, with each book having its own single letter sound emphasis. Bravo to the young author for her wonderful journey.
